Episode 4 of the #TRANSITIONPodcast: Moving beyond the majority–minority divide

The fourth episode of the #TRANSITIONPodcast “Conversations around Cultural Heritage” is now available.

Titled “Moving beyond the majority–minority divide: shaping inclusive heritage education”, the episode features a conversation between Dr. Ana Carvalho and Dr. Botan T. Maghdid, historian and Associate Professor of Ancient History at Soran University, on cultural heritage from minority communities and social inclusion in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Throughout the episode, Botan reflects on the importance of adopting new ways of speaking about minority communities, moving beyond a simplistic majority–minority divide and encouraging more inclusive forms of dialogue, representation and participation.

Botan also discusses the role of the TRANSITION project in fostering dialogue among university staff, supporting the revision of academic curricula, and contributing to longer-term processes of social change.
