The #TRANSITIONPodcast is coming: TRANSITION project launches “Conversations around Cultural Heritage”

What does cultural heritage mean today—and who gets to shape its future?

Starting 3 March 2026, the EU-funded TRANSITION project will launch Conversations around Cultural Heritage, a new podcast series that brings heritage out of the textbooks and into real life through open, engaging and accessible conversations with experts, members of the project consortium.

Across 8 monthly episodes (one per month), the podcast explores why heritage matters now, especially for diverse communities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and Yemen, and what it takes to protect the past while building a more inclusive future. Each episode, dives into timely questions, including:

  • the major threats putting heritage at risk;
  • practical and innovative preservation approaches;
  • meaningful community participation and shared responsibility;
  • the challenges and opportunities of cultural diversity, inclusion and innovation in heritage education.

Hosted by Ana Carvalho (University of Évora, CIDEHUS), the podcast invites listeners to join a critical yet informal conversation about protecting the past while shaping a more inclusive future.
